Natural beauty – The Tyenna Valley
The second last house on a quiet country lane, Fern is surrounded ancient forest. From your comfortable bed, listen to the sound of glacial water rushing past. On the lower half of this sprawling one acre block you will find the Tyenna River, which flows freely all year round.
This river is home to some of the largest trout in Tasmania and is a famous fly fishing water, dotted both cool rockpools and deeper holes perfect for a dip (even in winter if you subscribe to the benefits of cold water therapy). Fern is located just before the Tyenna River’s junction with the Humboldt River, which delivers some of the cleanest water in the world.

For wildlife spotters, platypus are very regularly seen in the river and wombats. Tasmanian devils, wallabies and pademelons are also aplenty in the local area. The latter will visit the yard most evenings, accustomed to occasionally enjoying our vegetable scraps.
