Tyenna River Cottage

Fly Fishing the Tyenna River

Fern Mt Field is a cottage located on the Tyenna River just before the junction of the Humboldt River, which flows from Lake Belcher up atop East Mount Field.

The Tyenna River has its origins further west, where water rushes from mountain peaks, through underground cave systems (its greatest depths below the surface still largely unexplored) on a long journey seaward.

This is some of the coldest water in Tasmania and some of the freshest in the world, home to a significant population of trout. This peaceful rainforest estuary is a popular fly fishing destination, yet is remote enough to rarely need to share it with other anglers.
