Gallery – Image Descriptions

Images 1-10

  • Western side of the accommodation, showing outdoor bath, shower, outdoor dining area and two original brick chimneys. One of these is still in use, catering for the open fire in the lounge area.
  • Cozy living room with a warm, crackling fireplace set in a dark wooden mantle, decorated with a small sunburst wall ornament and a diffuser. A large window with wooden trim lets in natural light and reveals a grassy hillside outside. In front of the window sits a soft, cushioned armchair with a throw pillow, positioned beside a tall floor lamp with a glowing globe light. A wooden coffee table with a glass top holds a magazine rack, while a plaid floor cushion rests beneath it. The polished wooden floor and patterned rug add warmth and charm, creating an inviting space ideal for relaxation.
  • A contemporary shower stall featuring vertical, cylindrical terracotta or reddish-brown tilework on the walls. The shower has a matte black square rain shower head mounted on the ceiling and a handheld shower on a black rail. A small, square niche with a contrasting dark stone background is set into the tiled wall. Natural sunlight streams in from a window on the left, casting diagonal shadow lines across the textured wall.
  • A photo of the timber deck of a small, white wooden cabin or house, seen from a slightly lower angle. The deck features a simple, pergola-style roof made of rough-hewn wood beams and clear corrugated plastic sheeting. A wooden picnic table and benches sit on the deck. A person wearing a dark top stands at the doorway, facing inward. The cabin is surrounded by lush greenery and tall eucalyptus trees under a bright, slightly overcast sky, with a sun flare visible through the leaves on the right.
  • An outdoor photo showing two people walking away from the camera along a single set of overgrown, disused railway tracks that stretch into a dense forest near Mt Field National Park Tasmania. The tall trees, primarily Australian natives, rise high into the cloudy sky, and the surrounding undergrowth is a mix of green shrubs and brown, dry ferns.
  • A nighttime or dusk view, seen from outdoors through the open French doors and a window of a small cottage in Tasmania. The exterior has white weatherboard siding and a corrugated iron roof. On the left, the bedroom is brightly lit, showing a bed with a light-colored duvet, an orange knit throw blanket, and two orange throw pillows. On the right, the open window reveals an interior hallway with polished wooden floors extending toward the back of the house, with warm light spilling out. Dark fern fronds frame the image at the top and bottom.
  • Three Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos perch high on the branches of a wattle tree with feathery, light green foliage, silhouetted against a pale, overcast sky. The birds are dark, and one of them is clearly visible looking toward the right, showing a hint of the yellow feathers on its tail and cheek.
  • A cozy, sunlit living room with a retro aesthetic. The focal point is a mid-century style armchair upholstered in textured light brown fabric, draped with a dark throw blanket. The chair sits beside a large wooden-framed window that looks out onto a grassy outdoor area. A brass floor lamp with a spherical white glass globe stands behind the armchair. The room features hardwood floors, a dark patterned rug, a wooden exposed ceiling beam, and a traditional painting hung on the wall. In the background, a dining table with wooden chairs is partially visible.
  • A view of a dining area and kitchen with polished wooden floors. In the center, a square wooden dining table is surrounded by six traditional dark wood spindle-back chairs with grey cushions. A framed, rustic landscape painting hangs above the table on the light-colored wall. To the right, the edge of a kitchen counter with dark teal/grey cabinets and a live-edge wooden countertop is visible. The foreground is blurred, showing a silver refrigerator and a door frame. Natural light enters through a window with sheer curtains on the back wall.
  • An accommodation’s outdoor bathroom featuring a modern, freestanding, curved bathtub in a light grey, speckled stone. The tub is partially covered by a roof structure with white support posts and a clear awning. The faucet is a pair of vintage-style metal taps mounted on a small, rustic wooden block behind the tub, with water actively running. A wooden slatted bath mat rests on a concrete floor in front of the tub. The background is a lush rainforest setting with ferns and a bright sun flare is visible through the foliage on the upper right.

  • A wide shot of a white, single-story cottage accommodation in Tasmania with a chimney and a grassy field in the foreground. In front of the house, there is a cluster of garden plants, including two tree ferns and a large rhododendron bush with pink-red flowers. The cottage is backed by a dense forest of tall trees, primarily eucalyptus and evergreens, which climb up a large, sloping, wooded mountain or hill under a partly cloudy sky. The lighting suggests late afternoon sun hitting the hillside.
  • A cozy, warm interior scene viewed through an open wooden doorway and over the back of a textured light-colored sofa or armchair. The focal point is a traditional dark wood fireplace mantle with a roaring fire burning brightly behind a curved glass or brass screen. A wooden starburst decoration hangs above the mantle at this Tasmanian accommodation with fireplace and a thin vertical window is visible to the right. The overall impression is one of a warm, inviting cottage interior.
  • A close-up shot of a matte black Breville espresso machine with an integrated grinder sitting on a wooden countertop. The machine features a hopper filled with coffee beans on top, a pressure gauge in the center, and numerous buttons and dials. A portafilter with a black handle rests on a dark grey silicone tamping mat in front of the machine. The stainless steel drip tray reflects the machine and the background, which includes a window with green outdoor views and a wall partially covered in vertical, terracotta-coloured textured tilework.
  • A bright kitchen counter featuring a modern black espresso machine sitting on a live-edge wooden countertop. To the left, a large window provides a clear view of lush green trees and bright sunlight. A black dish drying rack sits on a stainless steel section of the sink beneath the window. The wall behind the espresso machine is partially clad with vertical, caramel kit kat tiles. To the right, a wooden coat rack with a circular mirror is partially visible.
  • A close-up view of the white wooden front door of a Tasmanian cottage accommodation, which is made of weatherboard siding. The door has a narrow, vertical leaded glass window insert and features a brass doorknob and handle. The foreground and top of the image are softly blurred by bright green fern fronds, giving the impression of an entrance surrounded by lush foliage.
  • The exterior of a white, wooden weatherboard cottage in Tasmania with a small boardwalk deck and patio. The deck has a speckled grey concrete surface, a corrugated laserlite roof on a simple timber frame, and features a tree fern growing through a cutout in the center. Wooden and concrete table and chairs are visible on the deck. A wooden walkway leads up to the deck from a gravel driveway. The setting is bright and sunny, with trees visible in the background.
  • A cozy, traditional bedroom centered around a dark wooden bed frame with a light-colored duvet. A beige, fringed throw blanket is draped across the foot of the bed, with two dark rolled towels placed on top. The bed has two large, comfortable black pillows. A single window between sage green curtains looks out onto dense foliage in Mt Field National Park. A framed landscape painting hangs on the wall next to the window. The room features a dark, patterned rug on a wooden floor, a vintage wooden side chair with throw pillows, and a wooden hallway table with a vase.
  • A close-up shot of a bedside area featuring a tall, dark wooden headboard with carved detailing. The bed is dressed in a white duvet and layered with pillows in various colors, including white, mustard yellow, and sage green, with dark pillows behind them. A small, dark wooden bedside table holds a matte dark olive green desk lamp. To the left, a wood-framed window is partially covered by a light green curtain pulled back with a brown leather tie-back. A framed painting is partially visible on the far left.
  • A small, narrow powder room or toilet featuring a mix of rustic and modern materials. The back wall, which frames the white toilet, is covered in warm-toned plywood or raw wood paneling. The room has dark grey flooring and white walls on the sides. To the left, there is a distinctive pedestal sink with a dark, rustic bowl sitting atop a rough-textured, stone or concrete-like base. The image is taken through an open doorway, with the edge of the door frame visible on the right.
  • The indoor shower with caramel tiled walls, image taken from outside the house through the opening external windows. Most items in the house are recycled, however some modern elements have included in the renovation and these are sensitive to the home’s depression-era heritage

  • Clear water rockpools in the Humboldt River and its fern-lined banks. This river joins the Tyenna River just a few hundred metres from the house and the Humboldt Power Station is located just before this junction. This small hydro power station is housed within an attractive stone building and provides a clean energy source for the surrounding communities.
  • View from the galley kitchen out the main door and onto the adjoining deck. This self-contained accommodation has a well-equipped kitchen including a five burner stove, oven and all utensils required to prepare and serve a delicious meal.
  • Plants protruding through the centre of the front deck, which was deliberately built around these tree ferns during the renovation.

  • A deep, quiet pool in the Tyenna River looking downstream. Tall ancient trees line the river banks.

  • French doors open from the master bedroom onto the back patio which is lined with man ferns.
